Significance of 2nd October

 Mahatma Gandhi or Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2October 1869 in Porbandar Gujarat. Today is the 151 th birthday anniversary. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on 2october.On this day offices, schools everything is closed as it is declared as a national holiday. On this day cultural events are held. His favorite song Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram is used to play today. There was a very great role of Gandhiji in India's independence. Dandi March was started by him in 1930. In 1942 he launched the Quit India Movement. He abolished the practice of untouchability. On 15 June 2007, this day is declared as International Day of Non-Violence by UNO. 

Swatch Bharat Abhiyan was also started on 2October 2014 by our prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Today everyone is in the favor of Swach Bharat and follows Mr. Narendra Modi.

Today  Lal Bahadur Shashtri Jayanti is also celebrated. The statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri are decorated with garlands. Our Prime minister and other minister give tribute to them at Rajghat.
