Significance Of Brown Pede Of Mathura: Once upon a time there was a king who used to offer pede in daily routine to Lord Krishna. One day the servant of the king got asleep while making the pedas and the color got changes to brown. The servant was very frightened and was continuously remembering Lord Krishna. When he gave pedas to the king, the king said that he would see him tomorrow and the servant was very afraid of the king. During that night Lord Krishna came into the dream of the king and said that today he liked his pedas too much. They were very delicious. The king got very surprised. Then in the morning, he said to servant that because of him Lord Krishna came into his dream, and from today onwards these pedas would always be brown in color.

From that day these pedas are brown in color. 

As the Janmashtami festival is here and we all know that the brown pede is loved by Lord Krishna.

These pedas are very yummy and delicious and are loved by all of us. Whenever we go to Mathura we always buy these pedas. The people are crazy about these pedas.

Can we make it at home?

So many people used to think about how can we have the same taste of Mathura pede at our home. During this time nobody wants to go out and nobody is interested to buy sweets from outside.

So, here is a recipe for these pedas:


  • Four tablespoons of desi ghee
  • Two cup milk powder
  • One cup of milk
  • Tagar according to taste


  • Put ghee in a pan.
  • Add milk powder in that pan.
  • Mix it well until the brown color comes.
  • Now add milk and stir it continuously.
  • Let it cool down.
  • Add tagar in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Give the desired shape you want.
These yummy and delicious pedas are ready.
